This 130-year-old listed building is firmly linked in our minds with democracy and artistic-historical value.
From the basement to the roof, the parliament building on Vienna’s Ringstraße, which was erected at the end of the 19th century, is being renovated and at the same time made fit for the future for decades to come.
With a budget of over 350 million euros, the historic rooms are to be renovated:
– renovate the historic rooms
– create additional rooms on the ground floor and attic
– ensure their accessibility through 4 new staircases
– bring the parliament technically into the 21st century.
The dimensions of the construction site are enormous: during the renovation, one million metres of new cables will be laid in the Parliament, 750 windows will be refurbished, 500 chandeliers will be polished, 600 doors will be refurbished and 12,000 square metres of parquet flooring will be laid. In total, an area of 55,000 square metres will be renovated
