Koralmbahn

Project description

A 2-track high-capacity line with mixed traffic will be built between Graz and Klagenfurt. The aim is to shift as much as possible of the existing and forecast traffic growth to rail and to relieve and improve the existing line. The Koralm Railway project envisages a new construction of approx. 120 km. The core piece is the Koralm Tunnel with a length of approx. 33 km. The Arge contract covers the section west of Wettmannstätten station to the east of Lavanttal station. Included is the new railway station Weststeiermark with the connection of the Graz – Köflach – railway, the railway-technical routing of the Koralm tunnel including an emergency stop in the tunnel.
Der Arge-Auftrag umfasst das Teilstück westlich des Bahnhofes Wettmannstätten bis östlich des Bahnhofes Lavanttal. Inkludiert ist der neue Bahnhof Weststeiermark mit der Verknüpfung der Graz – Köflach – Bahn, die eisenbahntechnische Trassierung des Koralmtunnels samt einer Nothaltestelle im Tunnel.
